development of gifted and talented students, the Challenge Program is designed to meet the
specific needs arising from these characteristics. Project Challenge offers differentiated
educational opportunities designed to enrich, enhance, and stretch the learner's abilities
and potential. |
| The Challenge Staff is constantly involved in the design,
creation and evaluation of interdisciplinary units of instruction for use with the
students. The gifted program staff receives continuous training in gifted education through the extensive staff development program offered by the South Carolinas Consortium for Gifted Education. Frequent opportunities are provided for teachers to work with gifted education specialists from throughout the Unite States. The Challenge Program offers a three-hour graduate course in gifted education each semester. All members of the district administrative and teaching staff are encouraged to participate in these courses.  |
